US court seizes LA mansion of family of former Armenian finance minister

A US Court has seized a California mansion belonging to the family of a former Armenian finance minister, ruling it was purchased with funds of criminal origin. The mansion in Los Angeles belongs to Gurge and Artyom Khachatryan, the sons of former Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan.  On Monday, the Armenian General Prosecutor’s office announced that negotiations between Armenia and the US were underway on the return of the lion’s share of the proceeds from the house’s sale to Armenia. ECHR: Armenia’s former finance minister should receive immediate medical treatment

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has partially upheld an appeal by Gagik Khachatryan for immediate medical treatment. He is currently in pre-trial detention for embezzlement and abuse of power, requesting immediate medical treatment.  The appeal was granted on 21 July.  The ECHR is requesting that the Government of Armenia ensure that Khachatryan receives immediate medical treatment at a civilian hospital, with the participation of foreign specialists if necessary.  Yerem Sargsyan

Son of former Armenian Finance Minister goes on the run

The son of former Finance Minister of Armenia Gagik Khachatryan has refused to turn himself in after being charged with money laundering and corruption. Gurgen Khachatryan, who denies the charges, remains at large and the National Security Services are currently searching for him.
