Wolt and Bolt couriers go on strike in Azerbaijan

Dozens of couriers from delivery platform Wolt have gone on strike in Azerbaijan demanding higher pay, with couriers from rival company Bolt vowing to join them. The strike began on Thursday, with around 100 drivers from Wolt boycotting the company and deactivating their mobile apps. On Monday, a group of couriers from rival service Bolt Food announced that they would join the strike on Tuesday, also citing low pay. Georgian couriers vow to create ‘gig economy union’ following Glovo strike

Couriers in Georgia from food delivery companies Glovo and Wolt have vowed to form a trade union for workers in the gig economy, following the latest strike by Glovo couriers. On Tuesday, around 100 Glovo couriers gathered near the Sports Palace in Tbilisi demanding an end to frequent changes in working conditions and the return of the bonus system.  Many of those gathered told OC Media that they had been blocked from the Glovo application after several hundred couriers went on strike a day

Bolt Food couriers on strike in Tbilisi

On Wednesday, Tbilisi witnessed another protest by food delivery drivers unhappy over conditions in the increasingly expanding convenience services in Georgia. On 24 March, several dozens of couriers from Bolt Food gathered near the Sports Palace in Tbilisi demanding increased pay. Some also called on the company to reinstate couriers that they alleged had been suspended for speaking out against their work conditions.  Bolt Food, part of the larger Bolt company which also runs a taxi service
