European court rules against Georgia in femicide case

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that Georgia failed to prevent and investigate an instance of femicide, and ordered the state to pay compensation to the family of the victim. Man allegedly burns ex-wife to death in western Georgia

A man in Terjola, western Georgia, has been accused of murdering his ex-wife and injuring several others after pouring petrol over her and setting her on fire. The attack reportedly took place late on Thursday night at a supermarket where the woman worked late shifts as a manager.  According to TV Mtavari, the man attacked his former partner before locking her in a room and killing her. A 16-year-old girl has been murdered in Azerbaijan, allegedly by her 26-year old fiance. Hasrat Rajabova was killed on Wednesday in the eastern Absheron District. Police have arrested her fiance, Murad Hasanov, and charged him with murder. A 27-year-old woman in Azerbaijan has been murdered in a shelter for victims of domestic violence, allegedly by her husband. Ulviya Hasanova, born in 1995, was stabbed to death at around noon on Sunday in the Khazar District of Baku. Daghestan court reaffirms 2-year probation sentence for man who killed ex-wife

Ex-partner of former Batumi Vice Mayor killed following child custody dispute

Georgian police are investigating the murder of the ex-girlfriend of the former Mayor of Batumi. Anastasia Shatalova, a 26-year-old Russian citizen, was reportedly shot dead on Sunday night in the Saburtalo District of Tbilisi.  While the Interior Ministry have so far remained silent, local media reported that police officers searched and retrieved items from the flat of Zurab Beridze in Batumi.
